Teachers
The New Mexico Gas Company's LivingWise Experience was developed to teach high school students' easy ways to use energy more efficiently while increasing the energy savings in their homes. Program content supports New Mexico state Learning Standards so you can easily integrate the program into your existing curriculum.
The New Mexico Gas Company's LivingWise Experience comes with a teacher manual filled with lesson plans and engaging activities that you can use inside and outside of the classroom. Each student and teacher, will receive an individual Student notebook, and a LivingWise Kit. The kit includes energy-efficient products that will help students implement classroom lessons at home. Kit items include:
All we ask in return for your participation in the experience is that your students complete a short survey. Survey responses help gauge the knowledge gained by each student during the program. A self-addressed postage-paid return envelope is provided in your teacher materials to make the return of these surveys even easier for you. If your class is distance learning, please have your students complete the Student Survey form online at nmgc.getwise.org. Students will need your teacher seven-digit ID number to access the online Student Survey form.
There are a limited number of kits available for each school year. If you are a high school teacher and have already been contacted about participating in the program, you can enroll now here!
There is no additional cost to you, your students, or your school district. LivingWise is fully paid for by New Mexico Gas Company.
When you enroll, one kit will be provided for each student enrolled in your class with no maximum number of kits for each class. However, there are a limited number of kits available for each school year. When this maximum number of kits has been reached, no more classrooms will be able to participate in the program until the following school year.
When you enroll, your school will get to receive energy education that can help make a positive impact on your immediate community. In addition to teaching lessons that will promote lifelong efficient use of energy by your students and their households, each eligible participating high school teacher who’s school is in the New Mexico Gas Company service territory may receive up to $100. When a participating high school teacher who’s school is in the service territory enrolls in the experience, they will receive a $50 eGift card. In addition, this same eligible high school teacher who returns 80 percent or more of their classes’ student surveys by the deadline indicated on the teacher materials, they will receive an additional $50 eGift card!
