Ideas for Teachers

Model Energy Conservation at School
Turn off lights and technology when not in use and encourage students to do the same. Involve students in classroom “energy monitor” roles to foster responsibility.

Connect Home and School
Send home simple energy checklists for families to try together. Challenge students to help their families find and tackle “energy ghosts” at home, then share their findings in class.

Interdisciplinary Connections
Integrate clean energy topics into reading, math, and science lessons. For example, have students calculate energy savings, read informational texts about renewable energy, or track classroom energy use with graphs.

Community Engagement
Organize a school-wide “Green Day,” inviting guest speakers from local utilities or clean energy companies. Start a classroom or school energy-saving competition.

Career Awareness
Highlight the growing field of clean energy careers. Invite professionals to speak or share videos about their work, helping students see pathways from classroom learning to real-world impact.
